Ekiti State is in Southwest region of Nigeria, declared a state on 1 October 1996 alongside five other states in the country by the then military government under head of state, General Sani Abacha.

1. Peju Omobolanle

Peju Ogunmola Omobolanle was born in 1966 to Kola Ogunmola and Madam Ogunmola. She is a Nigeria veteran Yoruba actress.

Peju is a well-known comic actor, playwright, film director and producer. She is known for Maradona (2003), Mafi wonmi (2008), Toromade (2009), and Apaadi (2009). 

In July 2017, Peju Ogunmola and Tubosin Odunsin were guests at the Osun State University (UNIOSUN). The program was tagged UNIOSUN Illumination and it was from the 20 to 22nd of July. The show featured empowerment sessions, talk shows, celebrity interviews, award presentation, dance music and drama. Other guests at the show included Samson Braimah, Temitope Balogun, Prof. Kizito, Ore-Ofe Williams, Seun Fagbemi, Cymbals, Niyi Adebanjo, Sisdab and others.

Peju is the second wife of comic actor and producer, Sunday Omobolanle popularly known as Papiluwe. The union is blessed with a son named Sunkanmi, a graduated of Business Administration from the Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ogun state and also an actor.

2. Mosun Filani

Mosunmola Filani Oduoye was born on July 5th in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria but hails from lkole-Ekiti in Ekiti State. She is an actress, writer, producer and entreprenuer.

Mosun grew up with four other siblings. She attended Abeokuta College of Education and holds a Degree in Business Administration from Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED).

She started her acting career in 2005 and has since starred in several Nollywood movies especially Yoruba films such as Ami Ayo, Iyo Awe, and the popularly comedy TV series, Jenifa. The delectable actress is also a businesswoman and the CEO of Beauty and Brain Hair.

Mosun got married to Kayode Emmanuel Oduoye, a lawyer, politician and CEO of Shalom Group. The union which took place in 2012 has produced two offsprings including Sinaayomi Simeon Oduoye. She lost her father, Pa Olatunde Solomon Filani, in 2015.

She was nominated in 2009 and 2011 by the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

3. Oluwafisayo Ajisola

Oluwafisayo Ajibola Ajisola, popularly known as Freezon, was born on March 22nd in Lagos state, Nigeria. She is a Nollywood actress, model, singer, public speaker, and Founder of The Jewel Empowerment Foundation.

Fisayo is the last of four children of her parents from Ayedun in Ikole local government area of Ekiti state. Her siblings include – Baba Ajisola (brother), Bukky Ajisola Adesanmi and Yetunde Ajisola (sisters). She had her primary school in Lagos and secondary school at Federal Government College (FGC) Odogbolu in Ogun State from where she obtained her West African Examinations Certificate in 2009. She thereafter studied biochemistry at the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and also Acting at the Wale Adenuga’s PEFTI School for Acting, Lagos, in 2010. In 2017 and 2018, she attended two programmes at the University of Cambridge – The Queen’s Young Leaders Leading Change Programme and An Introduction to International Development: Understanding Contemporary Issues and Themes, respectively.

Fisayo began acting in 2010 with feature roles in the Nigerian television series, Tinsel, Burning Spear, Shadows Circle of interest, This Life and Jenifa’s Diary?. She is the Global Youth Ambassador of Their News, Queen’s Young Leader, a fellow of the Young African Leaders Initiative Network, Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society, and a member of the Youth Advisory Council of the Global Business Coalition for Education.

In 2017, Fisayo produced her own short movie titled ‘Road To Ruin’, a movie that focuses on child abuse and trafficking. Among others she has also starred in popular TV series including This Life. Her desire to reduce societal menace and to see youths become skillful, independent and responsible in the society gave birth to the NGO, the Jewel Empowerment Foundation (JEF) dedicated to school leavers, the under­privileged, orphans and people living with HIV/AIDS.

Fisayo got married to her husband on April 28th, 2018.

4. Foluke Daramola

Foluke Daramola-Salako was born on February 15th, 1978 to a family from Ekiti state, Nigeria. She is a Nigerian Yoruba actress and a producer.

Foluke grew up in South West Nigeria where she graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun state, with a degree in International Relations.

Foluke made her film debut in a 1998 series titled Palace. Ever since then she has featured in several movies notably Above Love (2004), Durodola 2 (2005) and Official Romance (2004). In 2013 her film, Cobweb, which she produced and starred in got her Africa Movie Academy Awards best supporting actress nomination. She noted that the film was inspired from her personal experiences, as her parents didn’t want her to delve into acting while in school.

In a personal interview years ago, Foluke revealed that she was a victim of rape. She thus founded an Non-Governmental organisation that is against rape and abuse against women called Passion Against Rape and Abuse in Africa (PARA).

In a March 2018 interview with The Punch (Lagos, Nigeria), Foluke stated that she considers her big boobs to be an asset not a curse, “The first attraction for most men who come across me is usually sexual. They see my big boobs and are moved immediately. But as a person, I would never go out with any man because they are attracted to my boobs because I know that it is too ordinary. As far as I’m concerned, women should stop seeing these ‘assets’ as a problem but take them as blessing. It is only by so doing that they’ll know how to carry themselves better. They should carry themselves well and not be ashamed.”

Foluke has been married twice. Her first marriage in 2005 to Tunde Sobowale collapsed in 2008 after three years of marriage on grounds of domestic violence. She married her current husband, Kayode Salako in 2013. She has two children from her first marriage. She says her second husband is her soulmate and is happy to have found happiness the second time.

She was nominated for Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 2013.

She is the founder of Maytemview Entertainments a content and media productions company. The company has produced a number of successful Yoruba movies like: “Tomorrow (Ola)” in 2019, directed by the talented director Okiki Afolayan and produced by herself.
