Adam Schiff (born June 22, 1960) is a California congressman and attorney who represents the 28th Congressional District.

He is now serving his tenth term in the House of Representatives, where he chairs the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which oversees the National Intelligence Agency.

Career

Adam Schiff began his legal career as an attorney for Judge William Matthew Byrne Jr. He was the United States Attorney for the Central District’s colleague from 1987 to 1993.

In 1996, he was elected to the California State Senate to represent the 21st District. He ran for the US House of Representatives in California’s 27th Congressional District as a Democrat in 2000.

On November 7, 2000, he defeated conservative incumbent James E. Regan and began his first tenure on January 3, 2001. From 2002 until 2020, he was reappointed, and in January 2021, he began his eleventh term.
