Ademola Adeleke challenged the results, calling the election a “coup.” On March 22 2019, a Tribunal declared Adeleke the election winner.
Adegboyega Oyetola, on the other hand, went to the Court of Appeal to have his victory upheld. Justice Hannatu Sankey ruled Adegboyega Oyetola the winner in a lead judgment issued on May 9, 2019, in Abuja, after setting aside all of the Tribunal’s proceedings due to their “faulty composition.”
However, Ademola Adeleke, who was dissatisfied and believed he had been robbed, went to the Supreme Court; unfortunately, the high court confirmed the Appeal Court’s decision on Friday, July 5, 2019.
However, his party (PDP) allowed the unyielding Ademola Adeleke to run in the party’s primary elections before the Osun State Governorship Election on July 16, 2022, alongside Akin Ogunbiyi and four other candidates.
Ademola Adeleke won the PDP primary in Osogbo on March 8, 2022, and ran for governor of Osun in the 22nd election.
