Following a disappointing homecoming campaign in west London, the Belgian has a point to prove.

Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he is motivated to succeed at Inter this season by “an anger inside” after a disappointing season with Chelsea in 2021-22. Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge from San Siro in a blockbuster £98 million ($119 million) move last summer, only to flop miserably, scoring eight Premier League goals in 26 appearances.

The Belgian also harmed his relationship with Chelsea fans during a heated mid-season interview in which he admitted regretting leaving Inter in the first place.

Lukaku returned to the Nerazzurri on loan in June, and he is now looking to reclaim his best form in Serie A.

What has Lukaku said about his dreadful reunion with Chelsea?

“The season at Chelsea provided me with additional motivation to perform even better than before. In a year, I believe people will have forgotten what I can do on the pitch. This is the type of rage I feel within myself “DAZN Italia spoke with the 29-year-old.

Despite his personal motivation to disprove his critics, Lukaku insists that he is not focused on winning individual awards this season.

“I don’t care about the top scorers; all I care about is the Scudetto. We’re at Inter, where we compete for the Scudetto rather than individual trophies “He continued.

Why did Lukaku leave Inter?

Lukaku went on to explain why he decided to leave Inter in the summer of 2021 before admitting he no longer sees a long-term future at Chelsea.

“I left with the intention of getting a rematch with Chelsea. I spent eleven years at Chelsea when I was younger and wanted to return to be a protagonist “He stated.

“After the last game, I began to consider what would be the best situation for me. My season at Chelsea was difficult, and I believe things will not improve in the future, so I decided to return here.”
