He is a veteran Nigerian Nollywood actor, comedian, and television personality.

Early Life and Education

Christian Ogbonna Chiwetalu Agu is a Nollywood veteran actor and comedian. He is well-known for his command of the Igbo language and his use of slang in his films.

He was born on March 5, 1956, in Enugu, Nigeria. He is still alive and well.

Chiwetalu Agu received his primary education at Municipal Council School in Ogui and Saint Luke’s Primary School in Ogui.

He completed his secondary education at the College of Immaculate Conception, Uwani, and received his WASSCE certificate there in 1977. In 1981, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts from Munchen College in Germany.

Chiwetalu Agu, like many other actors, began honing his craft at a young age. In Jos, he completed his mandatory one-year service to his country.

Following his service, he put on a slew of shows with his Inspirers Theatre Group, which he founded in 1983. He also worked at NTA Enugu before embarking on a full-time acting career.

Chiwetalu Agu has appeared in films such as Things Fall Apart, based on the famous novel by late writer Chinua Achebe, Sunrise, Old School, and many others.

He has collaborated with celebrities such as Ireti Doyle, Patience Ozokwor, also known as Mama G, Pete Edochie, and many others.

Professor Femi Shaka of the University of Port Harcourt recognized him as the Nollywood developer due to his skills and professionalism.

Chiwetalu Agu has also received awards such as Best Actor in an Indigenous Film. He won the award for speaking the Igbo dialect in the film Nkwocha and received a number of nominations.

Chiwetalu Agu has a wife named Nkechi Agu. They are the parents of five children, three sons and two daughters. His sons’ names are Christian Agu and Emeka Agu, while his daughters’ names are unknown.

He is from Amokwe in the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria.
