Early Life & Education
Mercy Johnson Okojie is from the Kogi State town of Okene. Her tribe is the Okene of the Nigerian state of Kogi.
She was born on August 28, 1984, in Lagos State, to Mr Daniel Johnson, a retired naval officer, and Mrs Elizabeth Johnson.
She is the fourth of seven children in her family. Calabar, Cross River State, was where she began her primary education. Her father was relocated to Lagos State as a navy officer, and she finished her schooling at a Nigerian Navy Primary School.
Mercy Johnson attended a Rivers State Secondary School in addition to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for her secondary education.
Career
Mercy Johnson auditioned for a job in The Maid after finishing high school and went on to appear in films like as Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, and War in the Palace.
She received Best Supporting Actress at the 2009 African Movie Award event for her work in the film “Live to Remember” in 2009, and Best Actress at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her role in the comedy film Dumebi the Dirty Girl in 2013.She was named Google’s most searched Nigerian celebrity in December 2011, a position she kept in 2012.
She was the Governor of Kogi State’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) for Entertainment, Arts, and Culture. This position began on April 1, 2017.
On November 3, 2013, Mercy Johnson was barred from acting for being too pricey. Due to her exorbitant expectations, Nollywood movie marketers threatened to ban her from the industry.
Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Richard Mofe Damijo, Emeka Ike, Ramsey Nouah, Nkem Owoh, Stella Damasus, and Jim Iyke, among other Nollywood stars, were barred from performing after allegedly requesting exorbitant pay raises per movie.
Following an apology from the actress, the prohibition was revoked by marketers/producers on March 9, 2014.
With The Legend of Inikpi, she made her debut as a film producer.

On August 27, 2011, Mercy Johnson married Prince Odianosen Okojie.
