Nektunez was born to Ghanaian parents on the 13th of July in the early nineties (90s). He was given the English name, Noble because his parents believed he would grow up to live a peculiar life and become a famous personality in the future.
He had a good Christian upbringing and began attending the Catholic Church when he was a toddler. His parents’ Christian beliefs ensured that he was taught good morals from an early age. Also, his parents are credited for instilling in him the principles of hard work, tenacity, and discipline.
True to his given name, Nektunez started showing signs that he was destined to tread an unusual path from his teenage days. This is because he became deeply interested in music and aspired to become a music producer.
Growing up, he had been exposed to Ghanaian Afrobeats and Highlife sounds, from listening to songs on the radio. He also came in contact with Hip-hop and Afrobeats music created by the artists in the neighboring country, Nigeria.
Coming from a middle-class background, Nektunez was privileged to attend some of the leading schools in Ghana.
He studied at top private schools in Kumasi for his elementary and secondary school education. After obtaining his West African School Certificate, he enrolled at the University Of Ghana.
Nektunez graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the university after four years of study.
During his first year in the university, Nektunez resolved in his mind that he was going to go into music production. His dream was to become one of the greatest producers to ever come out of Africa. Thus, he paid someone to teach him the basics of sound production and spent his free hours practicing in his apartment. In a matter of months, he had honed his sound production skill and began producing beats for underground artists in his university.
During this period, he came up with the stage name, Nektunez. Also, he explored deeper into his creative side and started composing songs. He would produce the beats for the songs and record the lyrics in a makeshift studio in his apartment.
On graduating from the University, he decided to do music full-time and worked as a recording artist, music producer, mix & mastering/sound engineer. Luckily for Nektunez, he broke into the industry quickly as many rising artists and A-list stars reached out to him for collaborations.
So far, he has produced beats for the likes of Eugy, Dance God, Evans Scott, Kobby Wills, Camidoh, amongst others. He teamed up with Evans Scott to work on the latter’s chart-topping EP, God Creates, Man Makes.
Nektunez‘s most significant break as a musician came in 2021 when he linked up with rising Nigerian rapper and hypeman, Goya Menor. The duo hit it right away because of their shared music taste, and they decided to record a remix of the trending party jam, Ameno Amapiano. Like they hoped, the Ameno Amapiano remix was an instant hit, going viral across the continent and even to Western countries like the United Kingdom, USA, and Canada.
The song has brought immense fame for Nektunez, and many big names in the African music industry are now interested in working with him. Thanks to the song’s success, he has been opportune to perform at several music shows in Ghana and Nigeria.
Currently, the Ameno Amapiano remix is the most Shazamed song in the world, and it also made it to the coveted number one spot of Apple’s TOP 100 Music In Nigeria.
