The former Bayern Munich player is anticipating a new opportunity with the Ligue 1 champions.

Renato Sanches, a midfielder for Lille, is on the verge of joining PSG, As Gini Wijnaldum seeks to join Roma on a season-long loan, the Parisian club is making a move for him.

Sanches became Lille’s most expensive acquisition of 2019 after signing a four-year deal for €25 million (£21 million/$25.5 million).

He was injured throughout the first half of the 2021–22 season and missed it, but following his comeback, he played frequently. He made a total of 31 appearances for the team last season in all competitions, contributing to five goals and scoring one himself.

What details of the deal do we know?

Sanches is prepared to make a permanent transfer to the French capital and has already agreed on personal conditions.

The midfielder, who is presently in the final year of his contract, will cost PSG €15 million (£12.5 million/$15 million).

The Ligue 1 champions, who are pushing for a loan deal with a required purchase option next summer, were met with resistance from Lille.

The athlete has limited himself to solo workouts in the gym and has stopped working out with the team.

This will be PSG’s fourth acquisition of the summer, following Hugo Ekitike, Nordi Mukiele, and Vitinha.

Which other teams were looking to sign Sanches?

Milan also wanted Sanches during the summer transfer window. The Serie A champions had him in their sights, but they switched their attention to Charles De Ketelaere of Club Brugge instead.

For his services, Milan is prepared to spend €32m ($33m/£27m) plus €3m in extras.

Arsenal of the Premier League was another team connected to a bid for Sanches, but the midfielder was only interested in moving to Paris.
